Acid degumming converts non-hydratable phosphatides (NHP) into hydratable form for centrifugal removal. Uses precise phosphoric acid dosing (0.1–0.2% on oil) at 60–70°C. Reduces total phosphorous below 20 ppm. The separated lecithin-rich gums can be sold as a by-product.
